We have miles and miles of hiking trails along the Nueces River. Hike all the way down to the Bermuda
Dam. Find a spot, be very quiet and lots of GOD's little creatures will come along. Watch the Squirrels play hide and
seek in the trees but the Giant White Owl will still be asleep. The wild Turkeys sleep in the giant Oak tree by the riverbank.
You can hear them talking to you and each other. Enjoy watching the wild Peacocks as they play follow the leader through the
fields and trees.
The winters are wonderful with our decorated trees of red, the ornaments are real, though. The Cardinals
make their winter home here and the trees are decorated with these birds. During the summer the trees are decorated with the
Green Jays.
Several years ago a team from the University of New Mexico studied the mice and rats among the Prickley
Pear and discovered a species that had never been cataloged before. We also have the Dimmit Co. Sunflower, a newly discovered
flora, that has never been found in any other place.
Bring your books on animal tracks. You will have a lot of fun identifying the many tracks and prints
in the mud along the banks.
